The NZ Women's team had a more than useful dress rehearsal for the upcoming Pacific-Asia Curling Championships when they won Dunedin's Wendorf Rock Bonspiel over the weekend of 5-6 November. Chelsea Farley, Brydie Donald and Natalie Campbell – with John Campbell filling in at second for Thiya Jeyaranjan – beat the NZ Junior Men 6-2 in the final. The eventual winners dropped just the last of their 5 pool games, Peter Becker's Maniototo side getting the better of a 6-5 result. Skip Chelsea Farley was delighted withe her team's performance. "This was the first time I'd played a tournament with Brydie and Natalie," she said, "and we really needed this to get used to each other's play and deliveries." "We had good keen ice too, quite swingy at times – hopefully not too different from what we can expect in China in a couple of weeks." 2009 winner Charlie McLeod beat Team Peter Becker 10-3 in the playoff for third, and Wendy Becker's NZ Senior Women won the 5th/6th match against Team Reece Aiken 11-3. The tournament, normally run mid-season, was held later this year because of a full calendar at Dunedin Ice Stadium. The curling rink was out of action for a period when temporary seating was erected over it for international Ice Hockey and the 100% Pure NZ Winter Games. Final Standings
