The NZ Curling Association's April newsletter announces the NZ team for the 2012 Youth Winter Olympic Games, and opens nominations for national Open and Junior teams for the 2011/12 season. There is also an update on the proposed National League, and reminders of May's AGM and June's 125th Jubilee celebrations. 2012 Youth Winter OlympicsFollowing the recent training and selection camp held in Naseby, congratulations are extended to the following young curlers who have been selected to represent New Zealand at the Youth Winter Olympics to be held at Innsbruck, Austria, in January 2012:
National Curling League datesAs outlined in Newsletter 2011/2 dated 14 March 2011, the introduction of a National League has yet to be finalised in terms of format, numbers of teams entered, venues, and dates (essentially whether four weekends or fewer). The Executive's current provisional view is that the 2011 National League should perhaps be limited to two weekends only as there could well be clashes of interest (and increased travel costs) with the 2011 Rugby World Cup and furthermore, the New Zealand Winter Games are scheduled to be held in August 2011, which again narrows the window of opportunity for the proposed National League. The Executive seeks comments from prospective players in a National League as to their preferred formats and dates – in Newsletter 2011/2, the initial tentative 2011 dates were set out as
The curling section of the 2011 Winter Games is set down for 21-28 August; the Rugby World Cup is to be played in the period of 1 September – 24 October 2011; the Pacific Curling Championships are scheduled for 12-19 November 2011 NZ RepresentativesThe Executive invites self-nominations for the various New Zealand teams for the following events:

Nominations for the 2012 World Seniors teams (Men's and Women's) and for the World Mixed Doubles teams will be sought in 2012 as these Championships have been rescheduled from April 2012 to November 2012 125th JubileeEntries for the NZCA's 125th Jubilee Bonspiel are now invited (hopefully at least one team from each Club); the bonspiel is to be held on Thursday 23 and Friday 24 June 2011. Entries to be submitted to the NZCA Secretary by 13 May 2011 (date of the NZCA's 2011 Annual General Meeting).
