The New Zealand Curling Association has confirmed that the winning Men's and Women's sides at the 2011 NZ Senior Championships will play for their country at next year's World Senior Curling Championships.

Last month, the World Curling Federation announced that the World tournament would be held in Tårnby, Denmark on 14-21 April 2012.

This will be the second time that Tårnby Curling Club in Kastrup, on the outskirts of Copenhagen, has hosted the World Seniors (age 50+). They were also played there in 2006.

Hans Frauenlob's side were convincing winners of last month's NZ Senior Men's title in Naseby. With fellow 2006 Olympians Dan Mustapic and Lorne DePape, plus Al Langille throwing lead stones, they were unbeaten through the tournament. Pat Cooney will join the squad as their 5th.

The Peter Becker team they beat in the final was the previous NZ Senior Men's side, and they had recorded a creditable 6th place in the 2011 World Championship – New Zealand's best result to date.

Wendy Becker's Otago side had a close tussle before winning the NZ Senior Women's title in Naseby. They won a best of five final series against Liz Matthews' Auckland side 3-2. The winners have invited Liz Matthews to join the squad as their 5th player in Denmark.
