Keith Wendorf, director of competitions for the World Curling Federation, rates Naseby's Maniototo Curling International rink as one of the best facilities in the world. His support reinforces the favourable comments from competitors at the just-completed Pacific Championships.
Keith and Sue Wendorf are well-known and important figures in New Zealand curling. They first came here in the early 1990's to introduce Kiwi curlers, previously all crampit-only, to the hack curling technique now used in all major competitions world-wide. Keith commented, "We are pleased to see this development from a personal and from a World Curling Federation perspective." He is also impressed with the facility at the Dunedin Ice Stadium and believes it will be even better when the glassed-in heated viewing area is completed.
Dunedin's annual Wendorf Rock bonspiel recognises the high regard that Keith and Sue are held in by New Zealand curlers.
