18 Sep 2016 – Dan Mustapic, Hans Frauenlob, Lorne DePape and Iain Craig won their third successive NZ Senior Men's Curling Championship this weekend after going through the tournament undefeated.

They were on form from the outset, with their 5 point winning margin in their first game being their closest of the round robin.

Five Men's teams lined up at the start of the event. The Women's championship was uncontested this year.

The round robin game between team Peter Becker and Dave Watt / Charlie McLeod was the match of the preliminary draw. The latter side won in an extra end to secure second place in the round robin.

The two sides met in the semi-final between the second and third ranked teams, and three successive steals saw Watt / McLeod earn their 8-5 win and with it a berth in the final.

The gold medal match was tight throughout, and the scores were level after five ends. A double for Mustapic / Frauenlob and then a crucial steal in the seventh left their opponents three behind going into the last end. Dan Mustapic was forced to throw his last stone to remove one counter and take the gold medal.
