14 Aug 2013 – Details for New Zealand's last chance to qualify for next year's Winter Olympic curling tournament have been confirmed. The OQE – Olympic Qualifying Event – will be held in Füssen, Germany from 10 to 15 December.
The New Zealand Men's side will face the Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Japan, Korea and the USA, with the top two finishers securing the two remaining Olympic entries for Sochi, Russia.
They will join Canada, Sweden, Great Britain, Norway, Denmark, China and Switzerland who have already confirmed their places with their rankings at the last two World Championships, as well as the Russian hosts.
The lead-in to the OQE starts this weekend for the Kiwi side as they take on five other sides – including fellow Olympic hopefuls Japan and Korea – at the Audi quattro Winter Games NZ tournament in Naseby.
New Zealand will follow this up by competing at the China Open in Beijing next month where they will meet more top international competition, the star-studded Grand Slam of Curling tournament in Canada in late October, and then the Pacific-Asia Championships in November.
