30 Aug 2019 – Long Bay College won the Boys and Girls titles at last night's Auckland Secondary School Curling Championships, while Lynfield College Green prevented a Long Bay clean sweep by claiming the Mixed title.

The Boys Final saw Long Bay's Luka Katavich, Harrison Burns, Kyle Sowry, Sam Roe and Yannick Lange come from behind in their final against competition newcomers Mt Roskill Grammar, winning 7-4 to defend their 2018 triumph.

Lynfield Black beat Lynfield Blue 10-3 in the playoff for third

The Girls Final was an all Long Bay affair. The more experienced LBC Stone Cold side led for most of the game, only for LBC Penguins to steal 3 and tie the game as the clock counted down to the end of the session. With no time for a full extra end, it was a Stone Cold draw to the button that claimed the win for Lauren Billett, Nikita Gurden, Alice Oh, Caitlin Scott and Joan Hardjadinata.

2018 winners Epsom Girls Grammar Knockout kept Lynfield Red scoreless as they won the playoff for third 8-0.

A steal of 4 points in the fifth end by Lynfield Green was the deciding break in their Mixed Final against Long Bay Narwhals, and they went on to win 11-4. Lynfield's Rachel Barrowman, Giordi Gambassi, Scimeera Reddy, Harsh Sharma and Eleanor Smith repeated their 2018 win, joined this year by Nene Matsuki.

Mt Albert Grammar School's first entry into curling was rewarded with a 7-3 victory over Papatoetoe HS 3 in the third-place playoff.

This year's competition was well contested, with 22 teams taking part – 12 Girls, 5 Boys and 5 Mixed – representing six schools.
