Record turnout for NZ Seniors

 Seniors

24 Aug 2024 – A record seven teams contested the 2024 New Zealand Senior Championships at Maniototo Adventure Park in Naseby last weekend, run alongside the MZ Mixed Doubles.

Although only two Women's teams entered the event, this marked the first time in 12 years that there was a contest for the Women's title. They played a best-of-three series, where Jo Olszewski, Sandra Thomas, Liz Matthews and Merran Anderson won the first two matches to claim the title.

Peter de Boer, Kenny Thomson, Gordon Hay and Phil Dowling had a clean sweep through their four round-robin games to qualify directly for the Men's final. Team Dave Watt comfortably won the single semi-final against Matt Whineray's side to challenge de Boer in the final series.

Team de Boer's round-robin win between the two gave them a 1-0 lead heading into the final series, and they wrapped up the title with a 7-1 win in the next match.

The winning teams earned first option to represent New Zealand at the 2025 World Senior Championships in Fredericton, Canada.
