Selection Process

SELF NOMINATION

Those wishing to represent NZ as a Junior (U21) are reccommended to Self Nominate to ensure selectors know that they are available for selection in a Junior NZ Rep team. Self-nominations close in at the end of April.

COMPETITION ENTRY

Try to enter the Championship you have self-nominated or are interested in being selected for. If that is not possible enter as many other National Competitions as you can.

COMPETITIONS 2024

SELECTIONS

Selections are made within two weeks of the completion of the NZCA Junior Championship. The proposed timeframe for selections is below.

17th April 2024: Self-nominations are open for NZ Junior Men's and Women's and those who are interested in selecting.
30th April 2024: Self-nominations close.
Self-nominees are emailed an 'Athlete Information' sheet to be returned by Friday, 17th May.
The 2024 Selection Committee will be confirmed at the May NZCA Meeting.
May: Self-nominee information collated and sent to the Selection Committee.
June: NZ Curling season begins.
8th—11th July: Junior Training Camp. All Junior self-nominees are invited to attend.
Selection Committee Meeting #1
2 - 4 August: Junior MD Dunedin.
Selection Committee Meeting #2
23 - 25th August: NZ Junior Championship, Dunedin
Selection Committee Meeting #3
The Selection Committee will nominate teams for selection.
The Convenor of Selectors will nominate selected teams to the NZCA Executive for confirmation.

30th August: Successful and unsuccessful self-nominees will be notified by either phone or email.
All self-nominees will be asked to keep selections confidential until NZ Curling makes an official announcement.
6 - 8 September: Junior Training Camp (positions decided in consultation with the coach, team and other coaches/selectors if needed).
Successful self-nominees are to confirm a position on the team by returning a signed NZCA Athlete Agreement.
10th September: NZ Curling will make a Social Media announcement confirming Junior Teams.
No announcement will be made until all Athlete Agreements are received.
