Secondary School tournaments are run in conjunction with School Sport New Zealand and in accordance with their guidelines. There are annual tournaments at North Island, South Island and New Zealand levels.
NZCA run Training Camps for Secondary School Students, and each facility runs 'Have a Go' sessions where you can learn how to curl.
NZ Curling Association hosts Training Camps as part of our Development Programme. In the July holidays, we host a two-day training camp designed for beginner and intermediate curlers. There are three Training camps throughout the year for our Youth Olympic Long List potentials, along with a two-day camp for our Junior Representative teams.
A Travel Subsidy is available for people who live outside Central Otago to attend the NZCA Training Camps 1, 2 and 4. You can only apply for the Travel Subsidy after full attendance at the Training Camp. Travel subsidies are as below;
Dunedin - $50
South Island - $100
North Island - $200
Please allow at least a month for your application to be processed. Go to the NZ Curling Calendar to see when the next NZCA Meeting will be to ensure you have your application in on time. Please ensure you email the NZCA Secretary after submitting your application to ensure it is received by the Executive.
All applications will be presented to the NZCA Executive and they will review them at their monthly meeting.
NZCA endeavours to keep the travel subsidy in place however, the NZCA Travel Subsidy Fund is subject to successful funding applications by the NZCA.
