In 2026, New Zealand Curling introduced a new format for some Secondary School Curling competitions.
The New Zealand Secondary Schools Curling Competition (NZSSCC) will rename a School Sport New Zealand (SSNZ) sanctioned event conducted in conjunction with SSNZ and in accordance with its eligibility regulations and guidelines.
Regional qualifying events are now delivered within their respective regions:
- Auckland Secondary Schools Curling Competition (ASSCC) – hosted by Auckland Curling and sanctioned through College Sport Auckland (CSA). This event was formerly known as the North Island Secondary Schools Curling Competition (NISS).
- Otago Invitational Secondary Schools Curling Competition (OISSCC) – formerly known as the South Island Secondary Schools Curling Competition (SISS).
New Zealand Curling's vision is to grow participation in curling and provide opportunities for as many students as possible to get involved. To support this objective, the NZSSCC is conducted as an Open Competition, allowing schools flexibility in team composition, including mixed-gender teams.
Schools experiencing difficulty meeting eligibility requirements or forming a team are encouraged to refer to the information below under the Secondary School Curling Requirements section.
